Is your garden furniture looking tatty?

Wood furniture is a great investment piece and always looks good in the garden if you look after it right. It doesn’t take much to keep your furniture looking good and they best thing is that it can be left in the garden all year round if you don’t have a garage or shed to store it in – perfect!

Lucky for me I do have a garage so every year it goes into the pit that becomes our garage (I am sure many of you are nodding your head too) and last week I discovered it in the back of beyond, after a skip run. I’m not sure if your like me but I am not great at DIY hence why I set up this company or would have had to find another husband that could do DIY. (Could go on and tell you all the DIY disasters he has attempted but I thought I would save that for another posting)

    Anyway….

Now the furniture has been found it didn’t take me very long to get it looking tip top and I was chuffed to bits with my efforts.

    My fail proof system included

    1. A jolly good wash down with soapy water – I used a brush to get into the corners (I am sure there is something you can buy at DIY shops) but good old fashioned soap and water works well with some elbow grease.
    2. Make sure you rinse well and leave to dry completely.
    3. Lightly sand it down to get rid of any splinter pieces and to give it a smooth surface.
    4. Buy a stain/varnish especially for wood products and give it a once over and leave to dry.
    5. Lightly sand it again and add a final layer of stain/varnish.
    6. Leave to dry.
    7. You now have new looking wooden furniture for all your friends and family to admire and if I can do it you can too!

If you are looking at sorting out your garden in the Bristol or Bath area but not sure where to start why not contact one of our recommended gardeners for a free quote.
